The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on Cyberspace of 2021 WIC Held

The 2021 World Internet Conference (WIC) focusing on digital civilization was held in Wuzhen on Sept 26-28.

More than 2,000 representatives from 96 countries and regions, including over 600 foreign guests, attended the event themed "Towards a New Era of Digital Civilization -- Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace" online and offline.

During the Summit, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on Cyberspace, one of the sub-forums, was jointly hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission, P. R. China and the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, co-organized by the Internet Society of China on Sept 27.

With the theme of “Jointly Building the Digital Silk Road with a Closer Partnership”, the Forum focused on how to speed up the construction of information infrastructure to promote interconnection, how to improve public digital literacy to bridge the digital divide, and how to promote the development of e-commerce to boost economic Recovery so that the benefits of building a community with a shared future in cyberspace will be shared by all. High-level representatives of governments, international organizations, private sectors, technical communities, research institutes and civil societies from home and abroad were invited to share their insights on topics as "Speeding up the construction of information infrastructure to promote interconnection", and "Improving public digital literacy to bridge the digital divide".

Mr. SHANG Bing, President of the Internet Society of China delivered opening remark for the forum, in which he introduced the current status of China's Internet development and international Internet cooperation, and put forward constructive opinions on strengthening the exchanges and cooperation of the Internet and the digital economy between China and international community from three aspects of deepening cooperation, inclusive sharing, and mutual learning.
