On July 14, 2022, China IGF, the Internet Governance Research Center of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) jointly held Seminar of Community Exchange on the 74th ICANN Meeting. The meeting was chaired by Guo Feng, Deputy Secretary-General of China IGF and Executive Deputy Director of Internet Governance Research Center of CAICT.

Zhang Xiao, Executive Deputy Director of China IGF and Deputy Director of CNNIC, delivered a welcome speech. She appreciated the active role and contribution made by members of the Chinese community in the field of Internet governance and called for further exchanges and cooperation among the communities.

Wu Shaohong from MIIT delivered appreciations to the Chinese community members who actively participated in global Internet governance and development of Chinese Internet domain name. meanwhile, she stressed the Internet based resource such as domain name and IP address plays a fundamental role to guarantee stable operation of the Internet, promote the development of digital economy. Also, she encouraged the Chinese community to strengthen interaction and communication with the competent authorities to jointly improve the governance of domestic and international Internet basic resources.

Participants had in-depth exchanges on the follow-up policy of new Generic Top-level domain (gTLD), domain name registration data protection policy, root server system governance mechanism reform, DNS abuse governance, IDN universal applicability and the development of Chinese domain names. It has actively promoted the Chinese community’s understanding of ICANN, the UN IGF and related international Internet governance events.

Nearly 60 representatives from government departments, domain name registration authorities, domain name registration services, legal services, industry associations, research institutes and universities participated the meeting.
