ISC Anti Eelectronic Mmessage Abuse Working Committee Established

On August 25, 2014, Anti Eelectronic Mmessage Abuse Working Committee of Internet Society of China was established and convened the General Meeting in Beijing. This new working committee is built up at the base of Anti-Spam Working Committee.
Representatives from Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Ministry of Public Security, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Center, ISPs, and Internet companies attended the meeting. At the meeting, the Working Committee elected the first session Chairman and Vice Chairman, and then approved the nomination of Secretary-general and Vice Secretary-general by the Chairman.
The general meeting was presided over by Mr. LU Wei, the Secretary-general of ISC. Mr. HUANG Chengqing, the Vice President of ISC and Vice Chairman and Secretary-general of Anti-Spam Working Committee, gave a report on the work of the committee. Since its establishment in December 2005, the Working Committee has made remarkable achievements and gained highly appreciation.
As of the first quarter of 2014, the rate of spam messages China declined to 38.2% from 63.94% in 2006. Meanwhile, the proportion of spam messages in China among the global ones declined to 4.1% from 22.3%. And the proportion kept declining trend.
Mr. LU introduced the preparations for the Anti Eelectronic Mmessage Abuse Working Committee. He pointed out that besides e-mails, SMS, MMS, microblog, Wechat, app etc. have all become the spam spreading carriers along with the rapid development of technology. Under new circumstance, Anti Eelectronic Mmessage Abuse Working Committee has developed broader businesses.
Mr. HAO Zhichao was elected Secretary-general of the Committee. He addressed a report on responsibilities and plan of the Working Committee, such as, improving reports tackling mechanism and public oversight system, exploring and establishing new network credit system based on the white and black lists, researching and building Internet users right and interest protection system with the content of anti-harassment, anti-fraud and anti-leakage.
Mr. GAO Xinmin, the Vice President of ISC gave the summarizing speech and expected the leaders of the Working Committee continuously contributing to creating a healthy Internet environment.
Currently, the Committee has 49 organization members mainly from government sectors, telecom operators and Internet companies.
